Dr. Francisco Torres is a Board Certified Psychiatrist who has been practicing psychiatry since 2004. He was born in New York City, but moved to Colombia with his parents at the age of eight. He earned his medical degree from Juan N. Copras Medical School in Bogota, Colombia.
In 2004, Dr. Torres returned to New York City to start his training in psychiatry at Lincoln Hospital which is affiliated with the Neill Medical College of Cornell University. During that time he was recognized for his medical teachings and seminars in Neuropsychiatry.
Dr. Torres completed his psychiatric training at Harvard Medical School/Harvard South Shore in Boston. He was elected Chief Resident and received recognition for his academic performance in the PRITE National Exams. After his training, he gained experience in Forensic Psychiatry while appointed at Bridgewater State Hospital. He completed Postgraduate Studies in Clinical Neuroscience and a TMS/ECT Visiting Fellowship at Columbia University.
In 2009, Dr. Torres moved to the Rio Grande Valley. He was appointed as Assistant Chief Clinical Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio-Regional Academic Health Center where he has been awarded for his commitment to Medical Education. He also holds appointment as a Clinical Professor for the UTRGV Medical School.
Dr. Torres is highly committed to medical teaching and also serves as an Instructor for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Physician Assistants appointed to UTRGV.
Dr. Torres is proud to serve as President of JNC Behavioral Services and founded JNC Neuroscience Clinical Research.
