Kenia Walker is a board certified physician assistant who has been practicing in psychiatry since 2009. She was born in Mexico and moved to the Rio Grande Valley at three years of age. Kenia graduated in 2008 from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where she was awarded a dual degree in Bachelors of Science in Health Care Sciences and a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies.
Before becoming a physician assistant, Kenia attended the University of Texas at San Antonio and obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in 1999 followed by a Masters degree in Biotechnology in 2001. After graduation, she worked as a research assistant in pathological studies of prosthetic devices, where she gained invaluable medical knowledge. This experience was the catalyst that led her to pursue a more active role in patient care.
Shortly after becoming a physician assistant, Kenia moved back to the Rio Grande Valley with the goal of practicing in mental health. She has been afforded the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of settings including child and adolescent psychiatry, addiction medicine, correctional psychiatry, and hospital inpatient care.
