Individuals with Schizoaffective Disorder suffer from both mood and psychotic symptoms.

The main characteristics of Schizoaffective Disorder is having Psychosis (hallucinations, paranoia, behavioral changes, and erratic thinking) for a period of 2 weeks with constant Depression or Euphoria.

Schizoaffective Disorder can be of Depressed type or Bipolar type. It has a better prognosis than Schizophrenia.

The treatment for this condition includes: antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and antidepressants. Sometimes we also need to add anxiolytics and sleep medication to help associated symptoms.

Since this is a condition that has a detrimental impact on the brain, early treatment can improve its prognosis.
